The greatest advice for current issues related to corona virus, or at least any type of infectious disease, is to wash your hands. However, you can wash your hands but do not touch this key after you are done. Easier said that I did. Recent experiences from the general public show that people touch their faces about 5,000 times a day. So we should not touch light switches or any kind of switches for this issue as many people may have contacted them.

For example, if you want to use the bathroom, you will likely turn on the lights first before entering. Then go and do what you need to do, then wash your hands and leave but just touch the key that could have been in contact with the virus from the start. This applies to any room and keys as well. By cleaning the lighting switches with a damp cloth/liquid, you run the risk of electrocution, so please do not do this.

So, how does one fix this? The answer would be home automation (even if it's an office).

From the image above you can see that this is what you see at the bathroom entrance.  You will also see that I taped off the bathroom light switches.  I did this because I installed a Kancy motion sensorin the bathroom to turn on and off the lights automatically.

With this setting, you can automate lighting switches in two ways:

  • The lights turn on when motion is detected in the bathroom. Then it turns off when no movement is detected after a specified time period. I set my profile to 5 minutes and this seems like the perfect time.a
  • Use the Kancy Smart Light Switch to turn on/off lights by Kancy smart app using your mobile or by your voice commands.

This way, I'm sure you can come up with other ways, that help you wash your hands but don't touch this switch later. This also applies to any other device or device as well. In any case, stay safe and healthy. Wash your hands often.
